A drive down I-35: Dallas to San Antonio

I landed in Dallas at 8:30 a.m. hopped in the car and got on the road...

First stop Waco for the Dr. Pepper Museum.  Although it was small it was pretty dang interesting.

Then we were trying to figure out what to have for lunch when we passed a Torchy's Tacos.  Courtney has been telling me stories of the deliciousness that Torchy's is for at least 3 years now so we just had to stop in.  Courtney told me to get the fried avocado taco (on the left), so I did and it was basically amazing!  Not shown here was the fact that we ate a big basket of chips with guacamole too.

Then it was on to the Texas Ranger museum...my dad's chose but I feel like I learned a lot that day.

Next stop...San Antonio

After a stroll to the River Walk and along it for a while...I had officially walked my dad to death and we both deserved a...

...a nice cold Texas brewed beer, with some barbecue that was in my belly before I remembered to take a picture of it.  We were definitely tourists that day, eating at The County Line on the River Walk

The night was young though and we were up for another drink before heading home...so we stopped in The Esquire Tavern known as being the oldest bar on the River Walk with the longest bar in Texas.  Apparently it used to not be quite so hip, but now the bar tenders wear vests and ties while serving up delicious drinks!

Of course my favorite way to check out a new city is to go for a morning run when all of the other tourists haven't gotten up yet.  I found the Alamo's gift shop and...

...realized that San Antonio is not done celebrating yet.

After the run I wanted a Texas sized...well no Texas shaped waffle...I just HAD too.  After breakfast we did head over to the Alamo and check it all out.  It really was not as small as people kept telling me it would be.  Then off to lunch at...

MadHatters Tea House and Cafe where I had a delicious veggie sandwich, but was too busy catching up with my San Antonio absed co-worker to remember to take a picture.  All of our lunches were so delicious though and this place was so freakin' cute!  I would totes go back if I was in San Antonio again.

Then it was back to Dallas via Round Rock for work.  Till next time Texas!
